Recorded across nine days in a church with no heating, which you can hear — the piano drifts flat over the course of each long take and Kerrin decided early not to correct it.

The room is the second instrument

Nothing here is close-mic’d. The pair of omnis sat eleven metres back, which means the reverb is the building rather than a plugin, and it means every page turn and radiator knock is on the record.

Sequencing

The two long pieces are buried at the end of each side rather than leading. Kerrin’s argument was that you should have to earn them, and after a year of listening we think she was right.
